One of the core reasons people come to counseling is that they feel a lack of connection. Sometimes that connection is to others in their life; loved ones, partners, friends, or co-workers. Just as often that lack of connection is to themselves; fears, traumas, sexuality or shame.
Fostering those connections with transparency, brevity and compassion is something I love to do. Helping people find understanding and to build coping skills that aren’t just instant gratification to drown out the real issues we’ve got. Skills and insight that’s more meaningful and effective than avoidance, or memes on Instagram.
Honoring their individual, unique process and doing it in a shame-free setting is vital to the process I pursue. Understanding how messages we received earlier in life sculpt how we hear messages now is vital. Wrapping our heads around attachments we’ve had push or pull us into the attachments we continue to make (sometimes quite unhealthy attachments).
Accepting that our experiences in all ways give us the lens that we view the world through, and realizing that when we turn that lens onto ourselves with love, patience, and a little help, we can see what was before now better, see ourselves today in a fairer light, and even look forward to building a better future.
I am so excited to build our relationship, and help you learn more about yourself so you can be the best you that you deserve.
